As I’ve worked with thousands of people over the years to help them lose double digit weight.  I have gained so much clarity as to what make s the Best Weight loss program.  The best weight loss programs are more than squats, deadlifts and bicep curls.   Exercise is necessary part of weight loss but it is only part of it.  Nutrition plays a big role in the success of an individual’s weight loss.  Even if you said that both exercise and nutrition are the only things that you need to execute a successful weight loss campaign, my response would be that you need more.


We all know that we need to exercise and eat well.  Even if you are not the most efficient exerciser, if you move, you will burn calories.  If you are more careful with the things that you eat, then you should see some changes in your body.  The fact of the matter is that most people want to do things but don’t do it.   Why?

We are more than flesh and bone

As human beings, there is more to us than mind and body.  There is that inner part of us that we know is there , but can’t put our fingers on it.  The spirit, the it factor, the gut, whatever you want to call it.  That thing inside that warns us when we are in danger.  It is that thing that acts as a  moral compass that tells us when we are doing something right or something wrong.  All of us have it, but some of us ignore it.  


When someone has an an issue with making those life changes, it is because The spirit hasn’t made a connection as to what the mind needs to do.  The spirit is where emotions dwell.  When the right emotions are in place this is usually when we act in the most enthusiastic, passionate and spirited way.  When we lean too much on logic, our logic will talk us out of doing things that our body and mind does not feel like doing.

The Best weight loss program has to deal with spirit, mind and body.  Neglecting any of the three just doesn’t allow for long term weight loss success.  You always here about that term “being all in”.  This is exactly what that means.  Spirit, Mind and Body being all in!  Leaving nothing behind and forgetting nothing on the table.  It is only when you have decided to sink or swim,  that you will be on your way to a complete transformation.

Motivation – You have to have  real motivation that you can see and feel.  Often times we call this your big Y.  Why do you want to lose weight?  This will help you to be clear on your goal and make the necessary sacrifices for the greater good.


Dedication –  This should go without saying.  You must be consistent at something for the results to take its course.    To achieve significant weight loss, you have to be more than interested in losing weight.  You have to be committed!!!


A plan to follow – Having a plan to follow is so important when pursuing a weight loss goal or any valuable life goal.  Seeking out a coach or personal trainer can shorten the learning curve and help you avoid discouragement and potential road blocks.


A shift in mind set  – Mentally you have to prepare your mind to shift away from previous thought patterns to new ways of thinking.  What got you to where you are at will not get you to where you plan to go.  It is important to adopt of the mindset of people who have accomplished the goals that you are seeking to achieve.  Spend time with people that are already at the place that you want to go.


Action –  Once you have the plan, and the mind set has shifted, this is a great opportunity to prove to yourself that you can do this.  Take the first step, and then follow it with the next.  Keep on acting, continue to move forward and let momentum work in your favor.


Accountability-  Along with your personal accountability, you should also have a Coach, a trainer or another professional hold your feet to the fire.  There should be someone that Pushes you to do phenomenal things that you didn’t think that you could do. On those days when you don’t feel like moving forward you should have people that will  Help you during those challenging  times.

HIIT Training Battle Ropes

HIIT Training is popular in Roswell, GA among other places.  People tend to ask  about HIIT Training all the time.  If you don’t, know what HIIT means, that is okay!  HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training.  A great exercise that you can incorporate into your HIIT style training is the Battle rope whips.   Here is some video that will show you exactly how to incorporate the battle ropes into your exercise program.


Battle rope can be used in HIIT Training and is a great way to work out the entire body


  1.  Grab the rope with a firm grip.  Gloves can help you to enhance the grip.
  2. Walk with the rope to make sure that there is no give to the rope.  You want to have the length necessary to create beautiful waves like the ocean.
  3. Take a step forward.  Again, this will allow you to have the proper length in the rope but not to the point where the rope is too tight.
  4. Spread your feet out about hip width.  This gives you a nice, wide and comfortable base.
  5. Bend your knees.  Bending your knees will help engage the core, help you generate power and shift your weight as you adjust to the rope.
  6. Using alternating hands, whip the rope repeatedly until you get a nice wave formation.  By flicking the wrist, raising and lowering the shoulders as well as bending the elbows, these things will help the rope go.
  7. You can do this exercise from 15 seconds to 60 seconds depending on your conditioning level.

This fundamental rope move will help you burn more calories, and engage the entire body in a way that few exercises can do.

This is Maxim Nazaire,  your Roswell GA  Bootcamp Trainer for the Core and Abs.   Our exercise for today is again another abdominal exercise to help you tighten those abs. We all want to workout those ab muscles. This exercise is called the hold the world. So let’s have a seat on the ground here. First things first,  stick your arms out so it can help maintain your  balance.  Here is the link to see the video on Youtube if you want to follow via video!

The next step is to take your feet off the ground. Notice that your knees are bent, your feet are off the ground, and arms are out to the side. That’s what helps with your balance. Take that naval in toward the spine. Your back should be in a nice straight line.  Ok, so now that you have the angle here, breathe through the nose and out through the mouth, taking in the naval and bringing it into the spine.

Nice job, relax. Great, so when you master that and when I say mastery you are able to do it for a minute or so. We are going to transition into Russian twists.

Ok, so you are going to do the same whole the world position, bring the hands together now, ok and then we are going to twist it from side to side, and we are going to twist from the shoulders. You should aim to touch the ground from side to side, still maintaining that core integrity, breathing in and breathing out.  Wonderful  job!

9 Eating tips that will help you get the Weight off

Nutrition is usually a hot topic when I have conversations with my Personal Training clients.   Often times people think that it is the consumption of fat that makes it hard for us to manage our weight.   Although this may be true, I spend a lot of time explaining to my weight loss clients that it’s the hidden things within some foods that make it nearly impossible to lose weight.  The old saying, “what you don’t know can hurt you”, is true in this instance.  I decided to write out some eating tips of things to stay away from to help accelerate your weight loss efforts.

1. If you don’t know what it is, or you can’t pronounce it, then you probably shouldn’t eat it.  If you don’t recognize the ingredient, your body won’t either.

2. Don’t eat any foods that have more than seven ingredients in it.  When you eat foods that have tons of ingredients in them, the majority of the time those extra ingredients are fillers.  These fillers will cause inflammation throughout the body and have you feeling bloated.


3. Put down the Microwavable dinners and Canned foods (with the exception of tuna fish) because they have preservatives in them that make it extremely hard for anyone to lose weight.  You would be better off placing your meals in an air tight Tupperware container or storing them in zip lock bags for future use.

4. Read what you eat!  If it’s going inside of your body, you should know what it is.  Read all of your nutrition labels.  Foods that have a suffix of “ose” mean that it has a high amount of unnatural sugar.  Stay away from these extra sugars.

5. Remove any foods with high fructose corn syrup in it.  This is also sugar by disguise.  The reason why you want to stay away from extra sugar is because sugar that the body can not turn into energy and fuel will be converted into fat.


6. Avoid Genetically Modified Organisms also known as GMO’s.  Although there aren’t any clear cut links that connect GMO’s to chronic diseases, there is an increasing number of studies from the American Academy of Environmental Medicine that are revealing GMO’s to be connected to food allergies, disorders such as autism, reproductive disorders, and digestive problems.

7. Eliminate soda from your diet, and replace it with water and tea.  Studies have shown that two people having similar eating habits, with the same activity level and all conditions being equal that the one person that gives up soda for one year stands to lose as much as 25 pounds.

8. Stay away from Monosodium glutamate also known as MSG.   Some experts believe that the continuous ingestion of MSG can cause excessive weight gain, diabetes, adrenal gland malfunction, seizures, high blood pressure, stroke and other health problems.  MSG can be found in most Chinese food.

9. Substitute your canned foods with fresh foods and frozen foods.    Canned foods have low level food quality, preservatives, and aluminum leaks.   These things will not help to develop a functioning body that is able to manage its own weight.

If your goal is to pursue a healthy life and to lose weight, then it is important to eat the right foods.  Eating foods that are natural, fresh and without additives and preservatives is the best way to manage your weight, and to live an active life style.   When in doubt, just keep it FRESH!
